Freeview
Coverage Most UK homes are in a Freeview coverage area.
If
you're in a coverage you should be able to get Freeview with your
existing rooftop or loft aerial providing it is in good condition.
However , you may still experience poor quality digital reception
and therefore need to get your aerial installation checked. Contact
Brian Wood to arrange a survey or aerial upgrade.
There are a number of reasons why your current aerial may not receive
Freeview such as its age and condition or the quality of the cabling
used.
If you require an upgrade, we recommend a "wideband" rooftop
aerial which is capable of receiving digital frequencies.
For further information about aerials and the reasons why you might
need an upgrade contact Brian Woods on 0141 952 1933
With the new free-to-air digital terrestrial receivers now available,
the whole DTT market is set to explode. There is approximately 16
million households across the country that don’t want to pay a monthly
subscription or have a dish on the wall, but would be more than
willing to view clear digital pictures through a terrestrial aerial
on their existing television set at the right price. How extensive
is DTT coverage now across the country? In some areas of the country
DTT signals are received with absolutely no problems at all. In
other areas though, picture break up and loss occurs. This still
occurs in a lot of the installations already completed. The complicated
nature of detecting these problems means that traditional rules
do not apply i.e. one set top box or integrated television may work
better than another.
The
government plans to convert the remaining 60% of the population
to digital by 2006-2010 remains a realistic goal due to the announcement
of a low cost receiver offering digital TV without a subscription.
