System safety and features
The
systems will have equipotential earth bonding installed to ensure that
in the event of a fault occurring and hazardous voltages being present
then these are removed safely.
Planning
Permission
For blocks above 5 floors, planning permission is not needed provided
there are less than two dishes on the block and they do not exceed 1.3metres
in diameter. It is assumed that the buildings are not in a conservation
area.
For blocks below 5 floors, a single dish not exceeding 90cm diameter may
be installed without specific permission provided that it does not protrude
above the highest part of the roof. It is assumed that the buildings are
not in a conservation area.
Recieving
Broadcasts on the upgraded system

NOTE:
It has been stated earlier that DAB and Digital TV reception will depend
upon the land transmitter that broadcasts the signals. At present some
local transmitters that feed many existing systems do not transmit Digital
Signals. Provision will normally be built into the new system for future
use of DAB Radio and Digital terrestrial adapters or decoders but it could
be the case that following the full range digital terrestrial signals
may not be available in the short term. This is because not all transmitters
have been upgraded yet to transmit digital signals. It may take several
years before this is the case.
However following a system upgrade ALL houses will be able to receive
Digital Satellite.
